Communities of Salt and Light:

Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish was developed by two conference committees: Domestic Social Policy and International Policy. After review and approval by both committees, the statement was approved by the Administrative Board in September 1993 and by the Catholic bishops of the United States at their General Meeting in November 1993. Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish is authorized for publication as a statement of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops by the undersigned.

GUIDELINE for ONE-TO-ONE CONVERSATION
Goal of the conversation is to identify self-interest and leadership potential.

Ideal is to listen 70% of the time and talk 30%.

Important to identify networks of relationships.

The purpose of the 1-1 is to challenge, not judge.

Basic outcome should be to ‘continue’ conversation, i.e., meet again in the near future.
