On this page you'll find a variety of resources to help parishes learn more and do more in the arena of social justice. Our approach to parish social justice is based on the following statement from the U.S. Bishops: " The central message is simple: our faith is profoundly social. We cannot be called truly "Catholic" unless we hear and heed the Church's call to serve those in need and work for justice and peace."

Additional Links/Resources: Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish was developed by two conference committees: Domestic Social Policy and International Policy. After review and approval by both committees, the statement was approved by the Administrative Board in September 1993 and by the Catholic bishops of the United States at their General Meeting in November 1993. Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish is authorized for publication as a statement of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops by the undersigned. GUIDELINE for ONE-TO-ONE CONVERSATION Ideal is to listen 70% of the time and talk 30%. Important to identify networks of relationships. The purpose of the 1-1 is to challenge, not judge. Basic outcome should be to ‘continue’ conversation, i.e., meet
again in the near future. |
