CCHD Latest News
Funded Groups
During its 36-year history, CCHD has provided more than 7,800 grants to self-help projects developed by grassroots groups of poor persons. Each year CCHD distributes national grants to more than 300 projects based in local communities. In addition, hundreds of smaller projects are funded through the 25 percent share of the CCHD collection retained by dioceses. The projects' successes and the relationships developed have significantly changed the lives of the poor in our country. (The Archdiocese of San Francisco provides only national grants to organizations that apply for CCHD funding).

Nuestra Casa
Nuestra Casa is a community education organization dedicated to increasing civic participation and promoting economic self-sustainability of the Latino immigrant population of East Palo Alto and the area served by the Ravenswood City School District.
Since its inception in 2002, the programs of Nuestra Casa have impacted the lives of nearly 1,000 children and families in East Palo Alto. They have achieved this by offering free community services through 4 Core Programs: Community of Learners, Leadership Development and Support, Parents as Leaders, and Poder Joven/Youth Power.

San Francisco Organizing Project (SFOP)
SFOP is a grassroots coalition of congregations and schools working to create innovative solutions to the problems facing our city. We engage families, youth, and seniors in public life to create a safe, healthy, and livable city for everyone.
We work with Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) in over 30 congregations and schools representing 40,000 San Franciscans to develop community leaders and grassroots campaigns. Each LOC determines its own priorities and develops solutions at monthly meetings.
SFOP works with communities on important issues such as affordable housing, health care, education, violence prevention, and immigration.
